§9708 Interagency Committee on Water Management and Infrastructure

Summary

Creates an Interagency Committee on Water Management and Infrastructure called the Water Policy Committee. It must include the Administrator, the Secretary of the Interior, the EPA Administrator, and the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Energy, and the Army, plus any other agency heads the co-chairs choose. The Secretary of the Interior and the EPA Administrator must co-chair the group. The committee must meet at least 6 times each year. The committee must make federal agencies work together on water issues where their jobs overlap. It covers things like water storage and supply, water quality and restoration, water infrastructure and river transportation, and water data and forecasting. It must improve data sharing and modeling, plan federal water investments together, support workforce training, and prioritize things such as storage, drought resilience, water quality, restoration, desalination and reuse, wastewater, flood control, and research. Not later than 1 year after December 27, 2022, the committee must send Congress a list of research needs, including needs that cross agencies.
