Title 15 › Chapter 121— FLOOD LEVEL OBSERVATION, OPERATIONS, AND DECISION SUPPORT › § 9711
Requires the Administrator to work with the Department of Agriculture, the Department of the Interior, and the Army Corps of Engineers to find gaps in snow-related data used to assess and predict floods. The study must look at things like snow water equivalent, snow depth, snowpack temperature, snow and mixed-phase precipitation, snow melt, and the rain–snow line. Within 180 days after December 27, 2022, the Administrator must send a report to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology with the study’s findings and ideas for how federal agencies can better cooperate to collect snow data to improve flood assessment and forecasting.
