Title 16 › Chapter 30— WILD HORSES AND BURROS: PROTECTION, MANAGEMENT, AND CONTROL › § 1334
Owners can report wild horses or burros that stray from public land to the nearest federal marshal or a Secretary’s agent, who must remove them; only Secretary’s agents may destroy animals. Owners may keep these animals on private or land leased from the government only if they didn’t remove them from public land, prevent harassment, and give the agent an approximate count.
