The Secretary of the Interior has exclusive control of Glacier National Park. The Secretary must, as soon as practicable, make and publish rules that follow U.S. law to care for, protect, manage, and improve the park, keep it as natural as its purposes and section 161 allow, and protect the fish and game inside it. The Secretary may lease parcels up to 10 acres for visitor buildings and up to 1 acre for summer homes or cottages, each lease not more than 20 years, and may sell or allow the removal of matured, dead, or down timber when needed for the park’s protection or improvement.
