If the government gets good proof that the deed is valid, the Interior Secretary can accept on behalf of the United States the parcel Mrs. Arah Chapman conveyed to William W. Kiskadden by warranty deed no. 174403, recorded August 24, 1916 (book 339, page 231) in the Larimer County, Colorado records. That parcel lies in section 31, township 5 north, range 73 west, sixth principal meridian, and is approximately 3.58 acres. In return, the United States will grant a patent (an official title) for parts of the NE quarter of the SW quarter and the SE quarter of the NW quarter of section 31, township 5 north, range 73 west, sixth principal meridian, totaling approximately 3.5 acres. Any land the United States accepts, except the part to be patented, will become part of Rocky Mountain National Park and follow the park’s laws and rules.
