Title 16 › CHAPTER 1 — NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › SUBCHAPTER XXI — ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK › § 198c
All hunting, killing, wounding, or capturing of wild birds or animals inside the park is banned at all times, except when a dangerous animal must be killed to stop loss of life or serious injury. Fish may only be taken by hook and line, and only at the seasons, times, and in the ways the Secretary of the Interior allows. The Secretary of the Interior must make and publish rules to manage and protect the park, its timber, natural features, and the animals, birds, and fish. Having the dead body or any part of a wild bird or animal inside the park is taken as evidence that the person broke the law. People or carriers (including stage, express, or railway companies) who know or should know the animals were taken illegally and accept them for transport can be charged. Anyone who breaks these rules or damages park property is guilty of a misdemeanor and can be fined up to $500, imprisoned up to six months, or both, and must pay court costs.
