Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter XXII— LASSEN VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK › § 206
When it benefits the public, the Secretary of the Interior may accept private land inside Lassen Volcanic National Park if the Park Service director says the land is mainly good for forests or park recreation. The United States can trade park land of equal value or let the owner cut and remove timber of equal value from designated park areas. The timber removal must not harm recreation, must follow forestry rules, and the Secretary sets the values. Land accepted becomes part of the park.
