Land claims made under U.S. law before February 26, 1919 stay valid. This covers homestead, mineral, right-of-way, and other kinds of claims. People who made those claims keep their full rights to use and enjoy the land. Coconino County, Arizona keeps the power to charge and collect tolls for livestock on the Bright Angel Toll Road and Trail. The Secretary of the Interior may negotiate with the county to buy the road, the trail, and any rights tied to them.
