When the United States takes legal ownership of extra land that the Secretary of the Interior says is needed for the Chalmette Unit of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, that land becomes part of the unit and must follow the same laws and rules as the rest of it. The total area of the unit, including any added land, cannot be more than 500 acres.
