Title 16 › Chapter 44A— ANTARCTIC MARINE LIVING RESOURCES CONVENTION › § 2442

Last updated Apr 5, 2026|Official source

Summary

Do not read these rules as overriding any international treaty, convention, or agreement that was in force for the United States on Nov. 8, 1984, or any law that puts those agreements into effect. Also, they must not override any law passed before Nov. 8, 1984, that applies to Antarctic marine living resources. At the same time, stronger protections can still be used. Rules from the Convention, conservation measures the Commission adopted under article IX of the Convention, or regulations made under this chapter may be applied if they are stricter than the older treaties or laws.
