§251i Land Acquisition of Privately Owned Land; Report to Congress; Condemnation Proceedings; Compensation

Summary

The Secretary must take full ownership of all privately owned lands that were added to the park under sections 251e through 251m. Within three years after October 21, 1976, the Secretary must get as much of that land as possible by donation, land exchange, or purchase, using available funds. On the third anniversary of October 21, 1976, the Secretary must tell Congress how much money would be needed to acquire any remaining land by forced acquisition through court action. Owners must be paid the land’s fair market value on the date it is taken, using land-use rules that were in effect on January 1, 1976.
