Title 16 › CHAPTER 48 — NATIONAL AQUACULTURE POLICY, PLANNING, AND DEVELOPMENT › § 2805
Creates an interagency aquaculture coordinating group inside the Office of Science and Technology Policy. The Secretary of Agriculture must be the group’s permanent chair. Other members include the Secretaries of Commerce, the Interior, Energy, and Health and Human Services; the heads of EPA, the Army Corps of Engineers, Small Business Administration, USAID, Tennessee Valley Authority, National Science Foundation, and Farm Credit Administration; and any other agencies the OSTP Director adds after talking with the group. The group will act as the Joint Subcommittee on Aquaculture of the Federal Coordinating Council. The group’s job is to make federal aquaculture research, technology transfer, and assistance more effective. It must review needs, check how well federal programs work, plan and coordinate agency work, share information, promote joint programs, and recommend actions to the Federal Council. The group must report regularly to the Council’s chairman. Agencies with aquaculture duties must, when possible and after consulting the group, act in ways that match the chapter’s goals. If the Federal Council is ended or moved after September 26, 1980, the OSTP Director will direct the group and receive its reports and recommendations.
