Title 16 › Chapter 49— FISH AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION › § 2903
States must make a conservation plan and give one designated State agency the main job of making and updating it. The plan must inventory nongame and other fish and wildlife in the State that people value for things like ecology, education, beauty, culture, recreation, the economy, or science. Plan species: the animals and fish listed in that inventory. The plan must find how many of those species exist and where they live, map and describe their important habitats, name major problems harming the species or habitats, decide what conservation actions to take, set priorities for those actions, and monitor species and results on a regular basis. The plan must be reviewed and updated at least once every 3 years, allow public comment, and include consultation with Federal and other State agencies to avoid duplication and share the best information.
