A State with a voting member on the Commission, and any treaty tribe represented by a tribal coordinating body, can get financial assistance under subchapter III if it signs an agreement with the Secretary to take on certain duties. The State or tribe must agree to put the Commission’s report and any changes into effect and enforce them where it has authority (by laws, rules, local orders, or other means). It must also agree to coordinate and consult with others as needed so the report is carried out as fully as possible.
