§362 Leases of Bathhouses and Sites; Supply of Water

Summary

The Secretary of the Interior can lease bathhouses and bathhouse sites in Hot Springs National Park for up to 20 years. Leases must charge at least $30 per tub per year, paid quarterly in advance at the government superintendent’s office in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The same water charge applies to everyone getting the water, inside or outside the park. Hot water must be supplied first to the Army and Navy hospital bathhouse, the public bathhouse, the park’s authorized bathhouses, the Arlington Hotel, and bathhouses outside the park authorized on or before March 3, 1891, in that order. If hot water still remains, the Secretary may allow other bathhouses, hotels, and families outside the park to use it under rules he sets; those users must pay to make their own connections. Water used for things other than bathing must be paid for at a reasonable price set by the Secretary. Every five years during a lease, the Secretary must review and adjust lease payments, but never below the minimum above.
