Only people who have no way to pay for baths and who have illnesses that bathing in Hot Springs can help may use the free bathhouse on the public reservation at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Before bathing, they must swear, before an officer approved by the park superintendent, that they cannot pay. If someone lies about their finances when swearing, that is a misdemeanor. If convicted, they can be fined not less than $25 and not more than $300 and jailed for up to 60 days.
