Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter XL— HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK › § 374
People may not enter the tract or use or bathe in any spring water there unless they follow rules made by the Secretary of the Interior. If someone is under medical treatment, they must show proof that their doctor is registered with the park superintendent and is allowed to prescribe the waters. Breaking these rules is a misdemeanor and can bring a fine of up to $100 plus court costs. Doctors who solicit patients (for example, through agents) cannot be registered. If a person bathes with a doctor's permit, the doctor is liable if the doctor is not properly registered. The person is not guilty unless they knew or had reason to believe the doctor was not registered.
