§3921 National Wetlands Priority Conservation Plan

Title 16 › Chapter 59— WETLANDS RESOURCES › Subchapter III— STATE AND FEDERAL WETLANDS ACQUISITION › § 3921

Last updated Apr 5, 2026|Official source

Summary

The Secretary must create and regularly update a national wetlands priority conservation plan. The plan will say, by region or other areas the Secretary finds appropriate, which kinds of wetlands and wetland interests should be prioritized for Federal and State purchase. To make the plan, the Secretary must consult the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, the Secretary of Commerce, the Secretary of Agriculture, and each State’s chief executive. The Secretary must consider how much of each wetland type remains since European settlement, current and future loss rates, and the wetlands’ value for wildlife (including endangered and migratory species), fisheries, water quality and flood control, outdoor recreation, and other relevant concerns.
