Summary

The Secretary can investigate when needed to carry out duties under this law and to find out if anyone broke its rules. To do that, the Secretary can make people swear to tell the truth, order witnesses to appear, collect evidence, and require relevant books, papers, and documents from anywhere in the United States. If someone refuses to obey an order, the Secretary can ask a federal court where the investigation is happening or where the person lives or works to force them to appear, testify, or hand over records.
