Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter XLVII— MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK › § 404
When the United States gains full ownership of the land, the Mammoth Cave area in Kentucky — about 70,618 acres — will be set aside as Mammoth Cave National Park for the public to use and enjoy. This is the tract recommended by the Southern Appalachian National Park Commission on April 8, 1926 under the Act of February 21, 1925 (ch. 281, 43 Stat. 958). The United States may not buy these lands with public money; they must be given by public or private donation.
