§404c–3 Criminal Offenses Concerning Hunting, Fishing, and Property; Prima Facie Evidence; Rules and Regulations

Summary

Hunting, killing, wounding, or capturing any wild bird or animal is not allowed inside the park. Killing a dangerous animal is allowed only if it is needed to protect people from death or serious injury. You may not take fish from park waters except at the times and in the ways set by the Secretary of the Interior. The Secretary must make and publish rules to manage the park and protect its trees, minerals, natural features, animals, birds, fish, and other park property. If someone has the dead body or any part of a wild bird or animal inside the park, that is taken as proof they broke the rule. A person or a transport company that knows or should know the animal was taken illegally and still accepts it for transport can be guilty too. Damaging park buildings, signs, plants, mineral deposits, or other park things is also illegal. Violators face a misdemeanor charge, a fine up to $500, up to six months in jail, or both, and must pay court costs.
