Work on projects the Secretary approves must follow federal and state law, be supervised by the State, and follow rules the Secretary sets. The State owns any land or items bought for those projects. If the State sells that property, it must pay the U.S. Treasury the share of the sale matching the share paid with chapter funds, but not more than those funds.
