§410ii–4 Cooperative Agreements for the Protection, Preservation, and Maintenance of Archeological Resources

Summary

The Secretary must try to make agreements with owners, including beneficial owners, of land that is all or partly inside the park or the archaeological protection areas. The agreements must protect, preserve, maintain, and manage the archaeological resources and sites, even if the United States does not own the land. They must let the Secretary or a representative enter appropriate parts of the property at reasonable times to protect resources and do research, and they must forbid any changes to the cultural resources unless the Secretary gives written permission. Those agreements must not stop traditional Native American religious uses of the properties.
