Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter LIX–HH— CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK › § 410jjj–1
The Secretary may acquire lands, waters, and interests in the park by donation, by purchase using donated or appropriated money, or by exchange. Land owned by the State of South Carolina or its local governments may be taken only by donation. If acquired land has a hunting lease, the lease can continue for its remaining term or for five years, whichever is shorter, but the Secretary may block any lease use that harms park protection or that violates federal or state hunting laws, with the stricter rule taking effect.
