Title 16 › CHAPTER 1 — NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › SUBCHAPTER LIX–HH — CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK › § 410jjj–4
The Secretary may spend up to $60,500,000 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to buy land and up to $2,000,000 for building essential facilities. The Secretary may also use whatever additional money is needed from that fund to buy certain other lands described elsewhere in the law. Within three years after this law takes effect, the Secretary must work with the Governor of South Carolina to create and send a general management plan to the Congressional committees that handle Interior and Insular Affairs. The plan must say which nearby lands or land interests are needed for protection, scenic quality, or park management and give cost estimates; how many visitors and what kinds of public use the park can handle without harming resources; and where needed visitor facilities should go with cost estimates. Separately, $3,000,000 is authorized for construction and development inside the park.
