The Secretary may get land or land rights inside the park by gift, purchase using donated or government money, or by swapping property. The owner must agree to any sale or transfer. Land owned by the State of Nevada or its local governments can only be received as a gift or by swap. Land and water inside the park that the Forest Service managed before October 27, 1986 are moved under the Secretary’s control and will be managed under this law. The boundaries of the Humboldt National Forest will be changed to reflect that transfer.
