§410uu–1 Expansion of Boundaries

Summary

The park’s borders are changed to add the lands shown on five maps: "Hopeton Earthworks" (map 353–80025, July 1987), "High Banks Works" (map 353–80027, July 1987), "Hopewell Mound Group" (map 353–80029, July 1987), "Seip Earthworks" (map 353–80033, July 1987), and "Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, Ohio Proposed Boundary Adjustment" (map 353/80,049, June 2006). Copies of those maps will be kept for the public to see at the office of the Director of the National Park Service, Department of the Interior. The Secretary of the Interior can make small boundary changes after public comment and a Federal Register notice, but all such small changes together cannot increase the park area by more than 10 percent above the existing acreage of Mound City Group National Monument plus the acreage added by these maps. The Secretary may acquire land inside the new areas by donation, by purchase using donated or appropriated funds, or by exchange. Land owned by the State of Ohio or its local governments can only be obtained by donation or exchange. Any purchase must be at fair market value set by an independent appraisal and follow the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 (42 U.S.C. 4601 et seq.). Land added from the June 2006 map (353/80,049) may be bought only from willing sellers.
