§410yyy–3 Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park Boundary

Summary

Renames Ocmulgee National Monument to Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park and expands its boundary to include about 2,100 acres shown on the map numbered 363/125996 dated January 2016. Old references to "Ocmulgee National Monument" will be treated as references to the new park name. The map will be kept on file and open for the public at the proper National Park Service offices. The Secretary may add land inside the new boundary by donation, by buying from a willing seller with donated or appropriated money, or by land exchange, but may not use condemnation (eminent domain). Any land added must be managed as part of the park under applicable laws. The Secretary must also do a special resource study of the Ocmulgee River corridor between Macon and Hawkinsville. The study must look at national importance, whether the area should become a Park Service unit, other ways to protect it, consult interested parties, and estimate federal costs. The study must follow section 100507 of title 54, and a report with results and recommendations must go to the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources within 3 years after funding starts.
