After the United States receives the authorized sites, structures, other properties, and a $100,000 endowment, the Secretary of the Interior must create the Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park and publish a notice in the Federal Register. The Secretary may then add up to 279 acres of land, buildings, or interests by donation, purchase (with donated or appropriated funds), or exchange, and anything acquired becomes part of the park.
