§423a–3 Petersburg National Battlefield Boundary Modification

Summary

The Petersburg National Battlefield boundary is changed to add the land shown on the map called “Petersburg National Battlefield Proposed Boundary Expansion,” number 325/80,080, dated June 2007/March 2016. That map will be kept on file and open for public viewing at National Park Service offices. The Secretary of the Interior may buy or accept those lands or interests only from willing sellers, by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, exchange, or transfer. Any land the Secretary acquires must be managed as part of the Petersburg National Battlefield under the usual laws and rules. Two small parcels are swapped between the Park Service and the Army. About 1.170 acres go from the Secretary to the Secretary of the Army, and about 1.171 acres go from the Army to the Secretary. These parcels are shown on the map “Petersburg National Battlefield Proposed Transfer of Administrative Jurisdiction,” number 325/80,801A, dated May 2011/March 2016, which is also on file and open for public viewing. The transfers are made without payment. The land given to the Army will be taken out of the battlefield boundary. The land given to the Secretary will be added to the battlefield and managed as part of it under the usual laws and rules.
