§423a–3 Petersburg National Battlefield Boundary Modification

Summary

The law expands the Petersburg National Battlefield to include the land shown on the map titled “Petersburg National Battlefield Proposed Boundary Expansion”, number 325/80,080, dated June 2007/March 2016. That map will be kept on file at National Park Service offices. The Secretary of the Interior may acquire the listed lands only from willing sellers by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, exchange, or transfer. Any land acquired must be managed as part of the Petersburg National Battlefield under the usual laws and rules. The law also swaps small parcels with the Army as shown on the map titled “Petersburg National Battlefield Proposed Transfer of Administrative Jurisdiction”, number 325/80,801A, dated May 2011/March 2016. About 1.170 acres shown for transfer to Fort Lee go to the Army and will be removed from the park. About 1.171 acres shown for transfer to Petersburg National Battlefield go to the Secretary of the Interior, will be added to the park, and will be managed as part of it. Both transfers are made without payment.
