§430g–1 Exchange of Lands

Summary

The Secretary of the Interior can accept, for the United States, approximately four acres of non‑Federal land inside Gettysburg National Military Park if the Evergreen Cemetery Association gives that land to the government at no cost. Once the United States takes ownership, that land must follow all park laws and rules. In exchange, the Secretary may give the Evergreen Cemetery Association approximately one and one‑quarter acres of federally owned land in the park that serves as a right‑of‑way through the cemetery. The swap can only happen if the Secretary finds it is in the public interest and the two properties are about equal in value.
