The Secretary of the Interior may acquire land or land interests inside the area called the “Modified Core Battlefield” for the Port Gibson, Champion Hill, and Raymond Units, as shown on the map titled “Vicksburg National Military Park—Proposed Battlefield Additions,” numbered 306/100986A (4 sheets), dated July 2012. The land may come by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or exchange, but land owned by the State of Mississippi or its local governments can only be taken by donation. The map will be kept on file and open to the public at National Park Service offices. Land the Secretary acquires will be added to Vicksburg National Military Park, the park boundary will be changed, and the land will be managed as part of the park under the law.
