The Secretary of the Interior may buy up to fifty acres next to Whitman Mission National Historic Site in Washington and a right-of-way to United States Highway 410 to include nearby historic properties and to provide needed monument facilities. The purchases can use land-acquisition funds available for the national park system and be made in whatever way the Secretary finds to be in the public interest. Each addition becomes official when a notice is published in the Federal Register.
