§459h–2 Designation of Hunting and Fishing Zones; Regulation of Maritime Activities

Summary

The Secretary must allow hunting and fishing on the seashore when federal and state laws allow it. He can also set specific no-hunting or no-fishing areas and times for public safety, park management, wildlife reasons, or public enjoyment. New rules must be made only after talking with the proper state hunting-and-fishing agencies, except in emergencies. No part of these rules or any other law changes Mississippi’s rights or gives the Secretary power to control maritime activities — including fishing outside the seashore like shrimping — in places that were outside the seashore boundary (including the buffer zone) on December 21, 2000.
