Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter LXVII— COTTAGE SITE DEVELOPMENTS AND USES IN RESERVOIR AREAS › § 460e
The Secretary of the Army may sell government land around reservoirs if the land is not needed for the project or for public recreation and if it is used or can be used for cottage sites. Sales must follow the rules in this part of the law. If someone was leasing a cottage site on August 6, 1956, the land cannot be offered to anyone else until 60 days after that renter gets written notice under section 460f or until the lease ends, whichever is later. During that time the renter has the right to buy the land the Secretary decides can be sold.
