§460ffff–2 Management Plan

Summary

Create a long-term management plan for the Scenic Area no later than 3 years after March 12, 2019. The Secretary must consult state, tribal, and local governments (including Inyo County and the Tribe), utilities (including Southern California Edison and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power), the Alabama Hills Stewardship Group, and the public. The plan must explain how to maintain existing public utility and other rights-of-way. It may allow casual mining using only hand tools, metal detectors, hand-fed dry washers, vacuum cleaners, gold pans, small sluices, and similar items. Until the plan is finished, the Secretary must manage the area under the existing law.
