The Secretary of Agriculture can charge people to enter or use certain public lands and recreation spots the Department manages. The Secretary may set entrance or admission fees for national monuments, national volcanic monuments, national scenic areas, and areas called "areas of concentrated public use." The Secretary may also charge recreation fees for special sites, equipment, services, and facilities, such as visitor centers, picnic areas, boat launches, and campgrounds. The Secretary decides how much the fees will be. Definitions: "Area of concentrated public use" is a place run mainly for outdoor recreation with heavy-use facilities, at least one main attraction, and where fees can be collected at one or more central points. "Boat launching facility" means any boat launch, even with special gear. "Campground" means a site that provides most of a list of amenities like tent or trailer spaces, drinking water, an access road, trash containers, toilets, staff who collect fees, visitor protection, and simple fire rings if fires are allowed. "Secretary" means the Secretary of Agriculture.
