Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter XCVI— RATTLESNAKE NATIONAL RECREATION AREA › § 460ll
Congress says the Rattlesnake area in the Lolo National Forest should become a national recreation area, and some parts must be kept forever as wilderness. Some lands there are important for watersheds (including municipal water used for over a century), wildlife, quiet outdoor use like hiking and camping, and for history, science, and education. To support the Wilderness Act (1964) and the National Forest Management Act (1976), Congress will protect some lands as wilderness and manage the rest to keep their water, recreation, wildlife, and learning benefits.
