Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter LXXV— WHISKEYTOWN-SHASTA-TRINITY NATIONAL RECREATION AREA › § 460q
Creates the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area in California so people now and in the future can use and enjoy the Whiskeytown, Shasta, Clair Engle, and Lewiston reservoirs and nearby lands and so scenic, scientific, and historic values are protected, subject to valid existing rights. The area has three parts — Whiskeytown unit, Shasta unit, and Clair Engle‑Lewiston unit — and its boundaries are shown on drawing BOR–WST 1004, dated July 1963, on file with the Director of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, Department of the Interior. The Whiskeytown unit must be run by the Secretary of the Interior. The Shasta and Clair Engle‑Lewiston units must be run by the Secretary of Agriculture, except any lands or waters still needed for the Central Valley project stay under the Secretary of the Interior as long as required. Both Secretaries must work together on planning and management to create coordinated, as-uniform-as-possible policies for the whole recreation area.
