Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter LXXIX— INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL PARK › § 460u–20
Indiana Dunes National Park is dedicated in honor of Paul H. Douglas for his work to protect and improve the park for current and future visitors. The Secretary of the Interior must name the park’s west unit the Paul H. Douglas Ecological and Recreational Unit. If Congress provides funding, the Secretary must build or use a building in the park called the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education. The center will mainly teach students and visitors three things: the park’s natural history and its ties to the Great Lakes, how people have used and changed the area, and the historical reasons Congress created the park. The Secretary must also put up signs, maps, displays, publications, and programs to explain Douglas’s contributions.
