Title 16 › CHAPTER 1 — NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › SUBCHAPTER LXXIX — INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL PARK › § 460u–23
The Secretary may buy only the land interest needed to make sure the public can get into a specific strip of Area VII–A. That strip runs from the area’s north edge to its south edge, with its east side 300 feet east of the electrical transmission line that crossed Area VII–A on January 1, 1979, and its west side 50 feet west of that same line. Area VII–A includes the beds of the railroad tracks along its northern, northwestern, and southern edges. Area I–D includes the northern track bed. Area VII–C does not include about 1.3 acres where the Linde Air Products plant sits or about 1 acre with Old Union Station and the REA building; otherwise VII–C goes up to but does not include the track beds.
