Creates the Gauley River National Recreation Area to protect the scenic, recreational, geological, and fish and wildlife resources of the Gauley River and the Meadow River. The area is made up of the lands, waters, and interests shown on two boundary maps: “Gauley River National Recreation Area” (NRA–GR/20,000A, July 1987) and “Meadow River” (WSR–MEA/20,000A, July 1988), which are on file at the National Park Service, Department of the Interior. Within five years after October 26, 1988, the Secretary of the Interior must send the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources a report with any recommended boundary changes and the reasons for them.
