Title 16 › CHAPTER 1 — NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › SUBCHAPTER CVIII — GAULEY RIVER NATIONAL RECREATION AREA › § 460ww–2
The Secretary may get land or land rights inside the recreation area by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or exchange. If a parcel is partly outside the boundary, the Secretary may also acquire the outside part to lower severance costs. Any federal land or water inside the area that is not listed under section 460ww–1 as essential to the Summersville project must be transferred to the Secretary without reimbursement. Nothing limits the rules in section 1102 of Public Law 99–662 or the authority of other federal agencies to run the Summersville project, including recreation. When the project releases water, agencies must work with the Secretary to protect public health and safety and to support whitewater and other recreational uses.
