Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter CVIII— GAULEY RIVER NATIONAL RECREATION AREA › § 460ww–5
Creates the Gauley River National Recreation Area Advisory Committee with 15 members the Secretary must appoint. Members serve two-year terms, may stay on until a successor is named, and can be reappointed. The Secretary or the Secretary’s chosen representative will be the Chair. The Secretary or designee must meet regularly with the committee to help make and carry out a management plan. Members are not paid, but the Secretary may pay reasonable expenses on vouchers signed by the Chair. The Secretary must fill seats to represent specific interests: one federal land agency, two from the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources, one from the West Virginia Department of Commerce, three from the commercial whitewater rafting industry, one from noncommercial whitewater boating, one conservation group, one game-fishing interest, the Nicholas County Chamber of Commerce, the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, recreational users of Summersville Lake, and two local citizens or citizen groups owning land in the area. The committee ends ten years after October 26, 1988 (October 26, 1998), and certain charter rules in chapter 10 of title 5 and section 1013(b) of title 5 are waived for this committee.
