Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter LXXXII— SLEEPING BEAR DUNES NATIONAL LAKESHORE › § 460x–3
Creates a Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Advisory Commission. The Commission will end twenty years after the lakeshore was created under section 460x–1. It has ten members who serve two-year terms and are chosen by the Secretary: four from county recommendations (two from each county where the lakeshore sits), four from recommendations by Michigan’s Governor, and two picked by the Secretary. The Secretary names one member as Chairman. Any vacancy is filled the same way the original member was chosen. Members do not get paid for service. The Secretary may pay reasonable Commission expenses if bills are approved on vouchers signed by the Chairman. The Secretary or a designee must consult the Commission about lakeshore development and about the matters in sections 460x–8, 460x–11, and 460x–12, and about putting the General Management Plan in place under section 460x–5(b).
