Title 16 › Chapter 2— NATIONAL FORESTS › Subchapter I— ESTABLISHMENT AND ADMINISTRATION › § 474
Surveys, plats, and field notes made by the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey for public lands set aside as national forests under the Act of June 4, 1897 have the same legal force as surveys returned by the Field Surveying Service. Subdivision surveys under the rectangular system that the Secretary of the Interior approves, and certified copies, must be filed in the local land offices. Laws that conflict with these rules do not apply to these surveys. The Director must also certify and file copies of every topographic and other map showing the forests, plus the related field notes, with the Bureau of Land Management.
