§504a Sale of Forest-tree Seed and Nursery Stock to States and Political Subdivisions; Disposition of Moneys; Exchanges; Limitation

Summary

The Secretary of Agriculture can sell forest-tree seed and nursery stock to States, local governments, and public agencies in other countries. Prices must be at least the government’s cost to get or grow the seed. Sale money goes into the Forest Service fund used to buy or grow seed at the time it is deposited. The Secretary can also trade seed or stock with those agencies for the same or different species if the trade helps the United States and what we give is not worth more than what we get. Nursery stock cannot be sold or traded under this rule for ornamental or landscape plants of the kinds usually sold by commercial nurseries.
