The Secretary must not allow a prescribed burn on Forest Service land when the national fire danger rating shows an "extreme" level for the county or a contiguous county. The Secretary may allow a burn in that situation only after working with the State government and local fire officials. At the end of each fiscal year, the Secretary must send Congress a report showing how many prescribed burns happened and where, and which burns were allowed under that coordination exception.
