§5724 Authority and Responsibility

Summary

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game must represent the United States in any agreement with Canada about managing Yukon River salmon that begin in Canada. That choice does not change the legal powers that the State of Alaska or the federal government already have over fishery resources. The Panel may also give advice on conserving and managing Yukon River salmon to Interior, Commerce, State, the North Pacific Fishery Management Council, and other federal or state agencies. Those recommendations are only advisory.
