Defines "forestry research" to cover eight kinds of studies. These include growing and managing trees for timber and other forest products; managing forests and nearby watersheds to improve water flow and prevent floods and erosion; managing forests and rangelands to produce forage for livestock and game and to improve wildlife food and habitat; managing forests for outdoor recreation; protecting forests from fire, insects, disease, and other harm; using wood and other forest products; making good policies for managing, harvesting, and selling forest products; and other studies needed to get the best use of forest resources.
